Ignorange, Pure ignorance

There are many American families with pets. For most of us those pets are more than that. They are family. They are valued members that play an active role in our happiness and well being. We create routines and when we lose our pets our worlds come to a screeching halt. We are left to pick up pieces we may not have realized existed. Things as small as closing the front door and driving down the driveway become painful.

I bring this small fact of life to attention for a friend who lost her dog this week due to the ignorance and selfishness of one human who doesn't value the bond we have with these important family members. My friend, Terri, was forced to euthanize her hybrid, Sundar, after a neighbor walked onto her 3 acres of land and was bit. She was taken to the emergency room and issued some band aids and pain medication.

Because of this woman's ignorance, Sundar paid. His whole family is paying the ultimate price. She insisted he was a " Ferocious Beast" and threatened to press charges against the family. The sheriff said he would have to register Sundar as an aggressive dog and one more problem and the state would step in and order the dog destroyed. The issue was pressed further. Sundar had to be tested for rabies because science doesn't know if the rabies vaccine is effective on Hybrids. Part of his brain had to be sent in for testing, he was found to not be rabid.

After Sundar had been put to sleep, Terri stopped by her neighbors house to let her what was done and to check on her "condition". She held up to fingers with band aids and told Terri, " This one hurts." She closed the door in her face without a care in the world for the destruction she caused in one families life.

Terri was informed the neighbor will not be able to press charges because she admits to being on the property uninvited. The damage is done. The ultimate price has been paid and any money that women thought she could get for her "pain" and "suffering" could have never added up to the price of life.

I have known Sundar since I was pregnant with Aiden and I will say of all the times I have been to Terri's house with my child I have never once felt threatened by his presence.

Sundar was a registered therapy dog and had his Canine Good Citizen certificate.

The OOH bug

OOH. That means Out OF Here and its the code we use at work when there are too many reps for the call volume and we are given the choice to go or stay. Its a very wonderful little option because we can leave and take it unpaid. Sometimes its 15 minutes at the end of our shift, but more recently its been about 2-3 hours of spare time. It rocks. But today was no exception. We were givin the option at 0930!!!! Keep in mind I dont get off until 1530, thats a TON of spare time. I battled with myself to not leave, but I am sooooo addicted to the OOH that I cant say no. I have to stop. I mean its a lot of hours Im not working here!! SO I have offically been given an Anti-OOH buddy to talk me into staying everyday!! LOL. Damn I love my job.

A week in review

Well its been a very busy week, well really 2 weeks. I spent more than half of last week out sick. No voice, sore throat, fever ect. Being sick takes up a ton of time!! Skip went back to work this Monday after having 30 days of leave under his belt. So between that and me still attemping to get used to a shift oppisite of what I have been doing for 6 months we have been pretty damn tired!

Aiden and I did get a great hike in on Monday. I didnt realize how much I missed doing the trail with him. Aiden did say 2 full sentences that day. I was shocked. The first was " Oh! I hear a doggy!" and the second, " I hear a birdy." I know that are about the sanme, but the subjectis very different. LOL. It was pretty exciting. Hes talking more more and Ive really enjoyed watching him grow. Now only if we could get that potty tackled.

Tuesday we got out of work 3 hours early. Ahhh...that rocked. I went hiking again. I had to cut it just a little short that day because it was so darn windy. I like the wind in the summer.Keeps you cool. But in the half winter/spring time its not so fun.

Thursday and Friday I stoppped and talked to a friend/colleuge of mine that has her own groom shop and I was lucky enough to help consult her an a business matter. At which time I was told I was "wise beyond my years". That always feels good.

We busted the grill out 3 times this week and man o man does that just make ya feel good!!

And here we are back to Sunday again and we are watching Alladin at the moment and planning for yet another hike. AndI suppose since I am talking about what I am going to be doing Iwillalso take some time to say with all the friends I am making at work, friends moving and chnaging teams I have finally been convnced to get the myspace page back up and running, so be watching for a the Add a Friends request coming soon.. LOL

Sharing is Caring

Children like to share lots of things. Half eaten food to cold germs. Sometimes if you are lucky they will share toys too. I was very lucky tonite and Aiden shared something very special with mommy. I was standing in the kitchen holding Aiden and we were watching Skip cook dinner when the amazing moment happened. Aiden was cuddling in my shoulder when lifted his head up, coughed and then puked all over me. Twice. Yes his chicken nugget lunch was sooooo better spewed all over me.

We did get to share a bath together, we needed it bad after that. I cant say I ever remember him barfing on me like that before. So it was a first. Glad I'm not squeamish. LOL.

2009 Hiking

Well The first hike of 2009 happened today. Spent some time at Palmer Park. I favorite of mine. Didnt do a huge hike or anything. A few too many places with some ice. Wind was blowing for a good amount of time and make it kinda cold.

We followed up with a trip to REI to check out trax for our shoes, dog food pricing at Wag-N-Wash and then over to Whole Foods for a kick ass salmon dinner. Yea. It was good today. Ill get some photos posted later

Sunday

It's hard to truly understand how bad you miss someone until you are actually given the chance to stop having to miss them and then you still miss then when they are standing in front of you. You come to realize that nothing truly fills that void, no matter how hard to try to believe that maybe you have. You can go out and do a million things and be with a million people, but none of it is really what you are longing for. It helps and its all wonderful to have, but it's not the same.

It's Sunday morning and I can finally say I feel like I am where I belong and life is in order. Even if it's not really sorted out yet. I'm good for that, its what Ive been missing.
